NOVI SAD (SEEcult.org) - The Grand Prix of the International film and new media festival Cinema City in Novi Sad was awarded to the Ballast, directed by American director Lance Hammer, who also was awarded at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. As the best Serbian film proclaimed Stefan Arsenijevic’s Love and Other Crimes, which had its national premiere, while the world premiere was at this year’s Berlinale, in Panorama Specials selection.

Hammer was among the guests in Novi Sad, but couldn’t stay until the end. Apart from the Ibis statue, he received a 15,000 dollar check, and half of this sum he have to the children from “Dr Milorad Pavlovic” in Sremska Kamenica.

Dejan Zecevic was awarded for the best director for his film The Fourth Man.

His film also awarded for the best editing (Marko Glusac), and the best actor in a leading role (Nikola Kojo).

Nebojsa Romcevic received award for the best screenplay, for the film On the Beautiful Blue Danube, directed by Darko Bajic, while Ana Franic received the award for the best actress in a leading role in the same film.

The best film from “Up to 10,000 bucks” selection is “Lullaby for a Boy”, directed by young Milos Pusic from Novi Sad.

Audience of the Cinema City Festival had an opportunity to see 135 films on 20 locations in Novi Sad, including interesting program “Planet rock”, dedicated to the films about music.

Among them was also Neil Young’s “CSNY: Déjà vu”, the musical documentary dedicated to the cult four-member band CSNY, which was shown at the closing night.

The Cinema City festival was organised by Exit.
