VRUM With a New Premiere

ZAGREB (SEEcult.org) - Croatian performing arts collective VRUM is opening the new season with a few guest performances in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Armenia and Austria, as well as with a new premiere - “Tainted”, based on idea of awarded choreographer Sanja Tropp Frühwald, the winner of last year’s Platform for Emerging Choreographers in Zagreb.

The VRUM will participate on September 18 at the ZVRK festival in Sarajevo in BiH with the "Something to Do With Death", also choreographed by Sanja Tropp Frühwald.

 

She announced that the "Something to Do With Death" will be performed also on October 12 at the High Fest in Yerevan in Armenia on October 12.

"Something to Do With Death", created to the music of Enio Morricone, was premiered at the New Faces, New Dances festival in Salzburg, and was performed for the first time in Croatia at the 25th Dance Week Festival.

 

The premiere of the new play "Tainted" will be on October 9-10 in HNK Varazdin in Croatia, and later will be performed also on October 16 at thePlatform for Emerging Choreographers in Tvornica in Zagreb, and on October 23 at the Tanzhouse festival in Salzburg.

 

“Tainted” is the result of the creation of Ivan Blagajcevic, Mirjam Klebel and Sanja Tropp Fruehwald, who are also performers in this play on Hrvoje Niksic’s and Angelo Badalamenti’s music.

It is the co-production of VRUM and HNK Varazdin, with the support od the Stadt Salzburg.

 

Sanja Tropp Frühwald, choreographer, author and dancer, graduated from the Faculty of Political Science in Croatia in 2001. and from the Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance (SEAD) in 2007.

 

Throughout her carrier she has collaborated with numerous Croatian and foreign choreographers and directors (Tanja Zgonc, Charles Linehan, BadCo, Matej Kejžar, Ted Stoffer, Matsune&Subal, Eileen Standley, Ori Flomin,…), while she herself is the author of various dance projects (Morning; Birds, birds, birds; Flutter; Moving south; Pyrtaneion; Almost;…), multimedia projects (I think I see myself on CCTV; Trashendo; Stand in motion,…) and photo installations (Bloody wedding; Strawberry fields forever,…) presented in Croatia, Slovenia, Slovakia, Austria, Germany, Sweden, Finland, Italy, Portugal and Argentina.

 

She has received many prizes for her work, including the Best Young Croatian Choreographer at 8th Platform for Emerging Choreographers in 2007.

 

She is the founder/member of several nongovernmental organizations in the field of the contemporary dance, theatre and alternative culture (Eks scena, Autonomous Cultural Factory, Tanzbüro), and is also working as a DJ and singing in a performative-music group Little Bunny Suicides.
